How much does Google Ads cost? There's no fixed price: you choose your budget, and you pay when someone clicks your ad. What a click costs depends on what people are searching for and how many other businesses want to appear for the same search. This guide explains how the money works, shows real click prices for searches on the Costa del Sol and in Gibraltar, and suggests how to set a first budget without wasting it.

Two costs: the ads and the management

Google Ads has two separate costs:

  1. Your ad spend, paid to Google. You set a budget and pay for clicks on your ads.

  2. Management, if someone runs the account for you: setting up campaigns, choosing keywords, writing ads and checking the results.

Many businesses only think about the first. The second decides how much of the first is wasted.

How the budget works

You set an average daily budget for each campaign. Google may spend more than that on a busy day, up to twice the daily amount for most campaigns, and less on quiet days. Across a month, it won't charge more than your daily budget multiplied by 30.4, the average number of days in a month.

So a daily budget of €15 means at most about €456 in a month. That's the number to plan around.

What a click costs here

Click prices vary by search. These are Keyword Planner's estimates of what advertisers bid to appear at the top of the page for a few searches we researched (in pounds, for September 2025 to August 2026):

  • "web design Marbella": £0.81 to £1.37

  • "diseño web Marbella": £1.11 to £2.22

  • "SEO Gibraltar": £1.19 to £2.94

  • "SEO Marbella": £2.10 to £6.10

These are estimates, not fixed prices. Your actual cost per click depends on your ads, your landing page and the competition on the day. But they show the pattern: services that are worth a lot to the customer, such as property, legal and specialist trades, cost more per click than everyday searches.

What does that buy?

A simple way to estimate: divide your monthly budget by a likely cost per click to get clicks, then think about how many of those visitors might get in touch.

For example, with a monthly budget of about €450 and an average click of €1.50, you'd get roughly 300 clicks. If 1 in 20 visitors contacts you, that's about 15 enquiries. Your numbers will be different, and the first weeks are about finding out what they really are.

What makes Google Ads cheaper

  • Specific keywords. "Emergency plumber Estepona" wastes less than "plumber".

  • Negative keywords. Excluding searches like "jobs", "free" or "course" stops paying for the wrong people.

  • Location settings. Showing ads only where you work, or to people interested in that area.

  • Good landing pages. A fast page that matches the ad turns more clicks into enquiries, and Google rewards relevant ads.

  • Conversion tracking. Knowing which searches bring calls and forms lets you move money to what works.

Spanish and English campaigns

On the Costa del Sol you may need ads in both languages. Spanish searches are often more common: in our research, "diseño web Marbella" had a similar number of searches to the English version, and across Spain the Spanish searches far outnumber the English ones. Separate campaigns for each language, each sending people to a page in that language, usually perform better than one mixed campaign.

Our Google Ads prices

  • Set-up: £400 or €475, once. The account in your name, conversion tracking, keyword research, and your first campaigns and ads.

  • Management: £250 or €295 a month for ad budgets up to £2,500 (€2,900) a month. Weekly checks on bids, budgets and search terms, new ads tested and a monthly report.

  • Larger budgets: 12% of ad spend.

Your ad spend is paid directly to Google, and the account stays in your name. See our Google Ads in Marbella and Google Ads in Gibraltar pages, or get in touch.

How much should you start with?

Enough to get meaningful data within a month or two: for most local businesses, a daily budget that pays for at least ten clicks a day on your main keywords. Start with one campaign around your most profitable service, measure the enquiries, and grow from there.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a minimum budget for Google Ads?

Google doesn't set a high minimum, but a very small budget produces too few clicks to learn anything. Plan for enough to buy a steady stream of clicks every day.

Do I pay if nobody clicks?

For standard search campaigns, you pay when someone clicks your ad, not when it's shown.

Can Google spend more than my budget?

On a single day, up to twice your average daily budget for most campaigns, but not more than your daily budget × 30.4 across the month.

How quickly will I get enquiries?

Ads can show within a day of approval. The first weeks are for learning which searches and ads bring enquiries; results usually improve as the campaign is refined.

Is Google Ads better than SEO?

They do different jobs. Ads bring visitors straight away and stop when you stop paying; SEO takes longer but keeps working. Many businesses use both.
